Magnolias

This time of year is my favorite for flowers, especially magnolias.

The Magnolia

Magnolias are among my favorite flowers because of its size, shapes and textures. The images are interesting to work with and they lend themselves to both black and white as well as color images.

Latest Magnolias

This morning I drove around the neighborhood and photographed some magnolias that I try to shoot every spring from the same tree. I love the forms ad colors. They work well in black and white, also.

On our ride we spotted a cluster of magnolia trees in mostly mid bloom These are most every photographer’s flower dream.

More Magnolias

Magnolias are totally fascinating and this group shows them kind of from beginning of bloom to later maturity.

Why Magnolias?

I am totally infatuated with magnolias, as are many photographer (and gardeners). For me the voluptuousness of the flowers and leaves and the colors are awesome. Fortunately, our neighborhood has numerous examples of these beautiful plants.

Neighborhood Spring

I try to ride my trike everyday, preferably in the morning and I keep an eye on the spring flowers. I am taken by the magnolias, mountain laurel and what is probably Henryi Clematis. These various flowers are good closeup challenges and when they are caught just right “lookers’.
