Al and I took a ride out to Pacolet, SC and found what we were looking for, namely. old buildings and kudzu. The inspirational graffito on the corner of an old building was a bonus.

West Greenville Mural
There is a new grocery store in West Greenville with a great mural on the wall which I will visit many times because it is so rich.
Backs and Sides
Wherever I go I look at backs and sides of buildings for patterns and paintings and am never disappointed.
Greenville, SC West End
Al and I took a wander through the West End of Greenville which is becoming a destination because it has become a major center for practicing artists.
Memory
Photography is like memory except you can go back to photographs and rethink them or share some images you haven’t shared yet. This occurred to me when I went back to the recent shoot with my friend, Al so here are some more old mill pictures with demolition and graffiti images.Photograp
Sort of Hidden
This and the next few entries will be of things generally hidden from view unless you prowl a bit. The old chairs near and exit area certainly carries a story. The graffiti are always entertaining and occasionally a tad annoying.

Old Upstate SC Mill
I am going to rest a bit from my NY trip and today’s blog is from a trip to an abandoned mill with my buddy, Al. The contrast between the mill, which is being demolished, and the trees and other greenery taking over the place is interesting to me.Walls and doors with vistas and graffiti are rich visual experiences.
Glendale Sequence
It is difficult to leave Glendale. Here is a group that seems to go well together. I see my friend Sam with his red shirt, backpack and tripod. His images work really well and you should check out his portfolio http://www.samwang.us/. In this set the beauty of the old buildings is enhanced by the slightly faded graffiti.

More Asheville Graffiti
These graffiti are amazing with their energy, design sense and deep feelings of mixed joy and anger. They are very sophisticated in vision and execution, suggesting that the artists are inherently sensitive and talented with some possible degree of formal art training.
Change of Venue
You do not have to go far to find great stuff to shoot, witness the Furman OLLI SIG trip to the River Road Art District in Asheville, NC. If you like graffiti, this is the place. I knew it was going to be a good day when we stopped at a rest area on the highway and I caught a bee in a flower, just from being prepared and in the right place at the right time.
