A few weeks ago Al and I rode around in the fog and found a few treasures.

Table Rock State Park, SC
The colors, verticals against horizontals and layering are what I saw when I shot the first image and the delicacy of the weeds and water surface of the second appealed to me.
Colors
A nice cuppa is a good way to start a day before shooting. Fall provides so many great colors, some quiet, some loud.
Keowee Area Woods
The upland forests in the Jocassee Valley area are truly beautiful. I know some like color images of forests but for me, at this moment, the tones and shapes are brought out better in black and white, though this could change at any time.
Out Again to the Countryside
Al and I went out fairly deep into the local countryside and found an old farm with the inevitable kudzu. The current forest firesĀ gave everything an odd bluish, smoky haze, good for photos, bad for breathing.
Wandering
Blue Rocks is a fun place in which to wander. Here is one path that seems to work well in color or black and white. I prefer the black and white because it shows the composition better than the color. The black and white also has a nice nostalgic feel to it. The stone formations have good colors and texture.
Bamboo Two
Taking pictures in a place like a bamboo forest or any dense forest is that initially everything looks alike but after a while each view is a bit different and the challenge begins to be how to best represent those subtle (to me) differences.
Table Rock State Park
Last week Alice and I took a walk around the lake at Table Rock State Park which is close to home. Woods walks are most interesting to me as the last leaves are falling and the tree branches show their forms. I also like the late fall look of some of the wild flowers.
