If we get far enough out of town the rewards of older working farms are great. I enjoy the colors of some of the subjects as well as the farm implements.
I love doors and their closures including hook and eyes, knobs. especially when they are sort of matured.
The backs and sides of old commercial buildings frequently contain visual treaures.
In our wandering there are lots of things to see including rings with shadows, and old doorways.
Al and I drove out to Newberry, SC and drove out into the countryside which is always interesting because of the echoes of past life and histories out there with old buildings and houses with associated fields. Here are some things I responded to.
Someone who walks with me needs a lot of patience because I am always stopping to look at things trying to photograph them in a way that somehow works, at least for me. Image balance and composition are two items that are critical for me. They differ for each photographer which yields great variations in what people see, even when looking at the same thing.
Here are three images which have multiple messages for me including colors, instructions and finally what one may find beyond the open door.
I am going to rest a bit from my NY trip and today’s blog is from a trip to an abandoned mill with my buddy, Al. The contrast between the mill, which is being demolished, and the trees and other greenery taking over the place is interesting to me.Walls and doors with vistas and graffiti are rich visual experiences.
Wandering around small town streets there are always patters such as the pavement bricks, doors, trash and downspouts. Besides the patterns they seem to tell me little stories about how they got the way are and who originated them.
In my travels with Al I come across doors and windows that seem to tell a story, one which I can imagine. I found these in Clinton, SC/
I have many projects in my head and doors and locks surfaced today. They can be a bit abstract and maybe confusing, which is why they are funfor me.
Doors and what happens to them is intriguing an l love the rusted doors, doors with shadows and simple doors with a small break in their surfaces by handles and dividing lines.
