Tjhere is a great festival in Asheville, NC celebrating bread and baking. There are lectures and a very tasty product exhibition area. Keep an eye open for next year’s festival. It is held onthe A-B Technical College Campus.
There is always more to see at the Lunenburg Farmers; Market.
The Asheville Bread Festival continues to get my attention. with its colors, textures and “handy” customers.
The location of the A-B Tech is one of the most beautiful campus sites I have seen. The porch of the Fernihurst building was a great place to sample our goodies from the bread and desert vendors at the Bread Festival.
The kitchen is a fun place to observe, like waiting for the bubbles to let me know the water is boiling, Alice’s bread and the pile of cleaned utensils which are an odd sort of Alpine mass.
One of the most fun and informative lectures I have ever attended was Peter Reinhart’s lecture on bread making. I have tried to capture the feel of the event in these three photographs. If you get a chance to attend one of his workshops, go, even if you are not a baker because he is a great teacher. The setting was challenging, so I think a few technical details might interest some of you. Camera, Sony DSC RX100M3, ISO 3200, f 5.6, 1/80th of a second, handheld, AWB.
