Al and I did one of our wanders last Friday and found an old barn out in rural South Carolina which is about to be torn down.  If you want to see this type of scene, you need to do it soon.

This is a place Al and I visit fairly frequently on our toodles out into the countryside. The farmer is very friendly and we always look forward to our visit.

We Need the Countryside

One of the beauties of South Carolina is the rural countryside with its barns, trees and fields. Here is a bit of it and hopefully all of the back country will not be developed.

Another Ride in the Country

Al and I rode around the countryside a few weeks ago and found an old barn and a store along with some neat shadows.

This is first of a few blogs from a drive through the countryside where we found an old farm. I love the old buildings and the sheets hanging on the line tells us that someone is still living there.

Here are more photographs from the Ross Farm Museum. The shapes and colors work well for me. The woodworker is one of the craftsmen who help maintain the crafts which were needed to maintain a farm.

My friend Steve and I were driving out in the country and stopped for fresh eggs, which we got and then found some treasure in a barn and hee it is.

 

Country Barn

One of the things Al and I look for is not unusual for photographers, old barns and we find them and photograph them. The challenge is to find the elements that caught the eye and show them to others.

Around the Farm

Old farms have great, old outbuildings, weed growth and undisturbed dandelions. I love the blues and greys of the barn side and the weeds growing alongside adds touch of color. The old barn also is a container of history and I imagine the people who used it. The large green leaves on the rusted barrel top and the vines growing growing up the side of the barn are kind of like music. Finally, who can resist a dandelion in full seed ready to parachute off to the next field ?
