While we were driving around St. Charles I spotted a pair of stone pillars with the name Hillcroft inscribed on them and they led to an overgrown long driveway going to an old, elegant abandoned home and yard. This is a lovely site with much of its charm intact, possibly made better by the encroaching decrepitude.
I lived there for a year in 1968 as a kid. It was BEAUTIFUL inside. It was built by a piano maker. There was lots of beautiful wood. I’m heartbroken that it’s abandoned and possibly has been razed and replaced since. I can’t understand why folks would abandon such a gorgeous place rather than keeping it in good condition.
It was wonderful place to see. I only wished I could have gotten inside. Thanks again for your comment .
Thanks for your kind words and info.
